Blessings from a Godly Mother

Mom was born in 1909, saved at a tent meeting in the Missouri boot heel when she was ten, the same night her mother made a commitment to Christ. Growth was hard when the only church came once every three months as the itinerate preacher passed through town. So Mom married my dad, a charming unbeliever who became an abusive alcoholic. Life was hard, but God was good. Continue reading

A Thank You Note to Mothers

A mere “Thank you” doesn’t seem adequate to cover the depth of our gratitude for mothers in God’s gracious plan for humanity. This blog is for you, mom. However, the space is inadequate to describe all the ways in which we are grateful for who you are and what you do. Continue reading

A Mother’s Love Communicates the Father’s Heart: A Mother’s Day Reflection

Our experiences in this world were always intended to help us understand God and what He’s like in relationships. Must We Argue Again?

So why does anyone keep arguing when we know it is wrong, and it is counter-productive? Titus 3 begins with a discussion about authorities and respect for them, about being peaceable, gentle, humble instead of hateful, self-centered. Is it not our selfish desires that become the dictators, telling us what to argue for and to keep going until we get what we want? Continue reading
